Saudi Arabia has confirmed that foreign nationals holding any type of visa are now permitted to perform Umrah during their stay in the Kingdom. The announcement marks a major development in the country’s efforts to expand access to the holy sites of Mecca and Madinah.
According to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the updated policy applies to a wide range of visa categories. These include family and personal visit visas, electronic tourist visas, transit and stopover visas, as well as work permits. As a result, visitors traveling to Saudi Arabia will no longer need a separate religious visa to perform Umrah.
The ministry stated that this step is aimed at making the spiritual journey more convenient and accessible to Muslims around the world. It is part of the Kingdom’s broader goals under Saudi Vision 2030, which includes enhancing religious services and increasing the number of pilgrims each year.
To support the new policy, Saudi authorities have also introduced the "Nusuk Umrah" digital platform. Through this online service, pilgrims can select suitable packages, apply for Umrah permits, and book accommodations and transportation. Officials described the platform as a significant technological advancement that allows visitors to plan and manage their journey with greater ease and flexibility.
The move also reflects the ongoing commitment of the Crown Prince and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to improving the experience of pilgrims. By extending Umrah eligibility to all visa holders, Saudi Arabia continues to strengthen its role as a global center for religious pilgrimage.
